The first transnational meeting of the SPECIALRACKET Erasmus+ project, co-funded by European Union, took place in Lykovrysi, Attica, Greece, from 17 to 19 May 2025. The hosts (Hellenic Powerlifting Association) and partners from Racket Speed Badminton Club (Bulgaria) and APS ASD Margherita Sport e Vita (Italy) met and had the opportunity through a theoretical and practical part to Exchange of good practices through visit in Special Olympics/Special Needs Centres bases in Greece.
This exchange is part of the SPECIALRACKET project, which aims to:
– Promote adapted badminton as a tool for inclusion and physical development
– Support children and youth with special needs through tailored sports programs
– Empower coaches and educators through transational collaboration and trianing
The ESDT-HPA awarded the Mayor of Lykovrysi – Pefki, Mr. Marios Psychalis, and the Deputy Mayor for Sports, Mr. Konstantinos Sotiriou, for their continued support for local sports clubs and for the Municipality’s support in implementing the SPECIALRACKET Erasmus+ Program.
Both the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor welcomed the participants, expressed their support for such projects, and highlighted the benefits of participants/coaches/educators from all European countries collaborating. Furthermore, the Mayor strongly emphasized the inclusion – coexistence – participation and the benefits of the action of children of the Pefki Badminton Club ‘Niki Magoufanas’ and youth with special needs playing adapted badminton and in the end being a team ALL TOGETHER.
The SpecialRacket project meeting in Greece was definitely a success and we are all looking forward to the next one in Italy.
